Cambrian Circular
A gorgeous 40 mile circular route. Climb the Devil's Staircase and ride the length of Llyn Brianne Reservoir.
Our route runs anti-clockwise and leaves Llandovery on the A483 to Llanertyd Wells. But as it's a circle you can approach from whatever direction is most suitable. At Llanertyd Wells you take a left before you reach the prominent hotel The Neuadd Arms, on my last ride we stopped for coffee here, and they also do rooms. The road is signposted Abergwesyn 5 miles. Follow the course of the river Irfon. Watch for signs to Llyn Brianne and follow to take you to the picturesque reservoir. Here the roads are very rural and continue to Ystradffin before returning to Llandovery.
The roads are rural, the views superb. Here the road is taking us up towards The Devil's Staircase
The Devil's Staircase is a set of steep hairpin turns, running through the Cambrian Mountains. It’s an old drover's track stretching for about 20 miles between the small hamlet of Abergwesyn and the town of Tregar.
