ME Dream 1957

Keith's Dream story

 ... and Sochiro's!

ME Dream 1957

250cc OHC Single

4 Speed Gearbox

Owned and restored by Keith Roberts

This unusual Honda was sold in Japan two years before Honda started exports to the USA. Because it was only destined for the home market in Japan it was never officially exported.

But many were believed to have been brought back to the USA by servicemen returning after WW2

The bike was bought from Japan in March 2021 and took sometime to arrive in Felixstowe because of Covid-related delays

ME 250 back from Japan

In1954 Soichiro Honda made the unheard-of plan of visiting Europe and learning as much as he could, directly from the best motorcycle factories in the world.

He met with Triumph’s Edward Turner, who was impressed by Honda, but could not see beyond his own legendary ego

By 1959 Honda became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer

A decade later the British motorcycle industry was left floundering...

The front forks are very similar to this ADLER 250 from 1954

The styling looks NSU inspired

The bike runs beautifully...as a true Honda Survivor
