Mick Hill’s

Bike-ography

Mick Hill has had an association with HOC West London stretching way back over 40 years. During that time he has had literally scores of bikes covering over 300,000 miles. Mick has a background as an engineer and toolmaker specialising in machine development for over 40 years.

You may want to make yourself a cup of tea before you start - there's lots to go through!

I believe his favourite was and always will be the original big six-cylindered CBX1000.As you will see he also owned the later Pro-link model but for him that never quite compared.

...an amazing collection

CBX1000 Mick's favourite?

Biking was in the family blood and Mick inherited his father's Honda C100 but within a month had bought  a 1972 CB125S (gold and white)

He has always had an interest in CZs and MZs which were very popular back in the 80s

Brand New 1974 CZ175

This new MZ150 (above) was followed by a second hand MZ250

Interest then turned to Matchless with a G5 350 which he still owns and a 650 which was downsized to a 350 and has now done 120,000 miles

A couple of Triumphs followed - the blue one was bought as a box of bits and the Bonnie was owned for 10 years after a full restoration

As mentioned earlier Mick always loved his CBX1000. Here is his 1978 1000Z. He is pictured on it at our Kempton park Rally which the West London Branch organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HOC way back in 1986

Glen Pringle's son Alastair tries a CBX for size back in '86

More Hondas followed and some of these are still with Mick

Over the years the white ,red and grey VFR400 NC21 slowly evolved into a Rothman's NC24

There followed a Pro-link CBX and a cute CB250 RS

There had to be a VFR... here it is !!

Mick comments ''  I've had the '92 VFR 750 for 6 or 7 years and is by far the best all rounder I've had.''

I suggest you get another cuppa now then you can sit back and join an image carousel of more bikes - First the British, then BMWs and MZs

The Brits comprise:

 2 x Triumph Trophies,

 1966 Norton Atlas

 1932 Royal Enfield 150cc model Z.

This was amazingly similar to the much later Honda 50. With a pressed steel frame, legshields, and a speed of 30 - 40 MPH. I got the engine and gearbox working, and the rear wheel rebuilt, as well as making a lot of parts for it

Here come the BMWs -

a red R450, silver K75

blue K100RS, grey K110RS

and very stylish K1200RS

As mentioned at the beginning Mick has always had an unusual passion for MZs - so we finish with some of those

The grey 660 Skorpion uses a Yamaha XT 660 engine

The green 1994 Skorpion Tour was bought in 2022 with 0 miles on the clock!

A charcoal Skorpion he 'couldn't say no to'

and a set of MZ1000s - an unfaired SF,

a fully faired S

 and a blue ST.

This 'set of 1000s' is one of only two in the UK
